This problem might be system related?

system configuration:
Intel custom build, with Intel desktop board, 815 family chipset. 300W pwr
supply
Intel Pentium III processor @ 1.26GHz
512MB RAM PC133
WDC 10.2GB HDD with other drives: 3.5"FF FDD & Zip250 + 5.25"FF DVD/CD-ROM
This is a very common configuration. Suspect that it doesn't have enough RAM?
Ubuntu Version = "Hardy Heron" with all latest updates. This OS has been
installed for about 2 years.

This system almost never crashes. The same thing cannot be said for another
system with WinXPsp3.
The only times I can make it crash is by going to System/Preferences/Screen
Saver settings. As soon as the dialog opens, the system halts and the only way
out is to press reset. The Screen Saver selected doesn't run. If the screen
saver is started by the system, the screen goes to black and will not respond
to either mouse movement or keyboard and again, reset button must be depressed
to restart. I have learned to not ever leave the keyboard with unfinished work
open.
