Ivan, I know you cannot attach the problematic PDF files because they have sensitive information, but we cannot fully help you as we cannot easily reproduce the bug without those files. Are there any PDF files that show up blank but do not contain any sensitive information?
Regardless, your bug may not be related to this one as having poppler- data installed didn't fix it. Would you mind installing Okular and opening your PDF files with it?
