Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
gnome-power-manager version: 2.30.0-0ubuntu1
Ubuntu 10.04.01 LTS
Acer Aspire 5745-3428 recently bought
SMBIOS 2.6 revision: 8.240 - according to dmidecode
g-p-m does not notice the power cable presence/disconnection, it shows the
battery icon as fully charged all the time; under its properties is shown the
battery as 100% charged all the time and the battery icon does not indicates
the battery discharging.
g-p-m is using preferences as the laptop is pluged on charger.
Running acpi returns message of "rate information unavailable"; running acpi -a
shows "Adapter 0= on" all the time, even if the power cable is off; running
acpi -bi shows "Battery 0=unknown...;
So, the power manager and acpi are not detecting the battery discharging and
both of them indicate the power line cable as on all the time.
YACPI command returns that AC ADAPTER is on, even if it isnt.
All the system power monitors indicates that the power cable is on all the
time, so there is no difference when the notebook is using batteries or charger.
The only indicator that is OK is the laptop charging light.
Tried booting with ec_burst=1 and acpi=force parameters but there was no change.
I just cant use the ubuntu with the laptop unpluged cause i dont know
the battery status.
