Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media
I'm using USB speakers, so I had to disable the built-in speakers according to the second note in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-402293.html > Never mind. I just fixed the problem. > I basically used this command > sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist > > and then added this line at the end > > blacklist snd_intel8x0 > > I also added these lines to the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file. > > # autoloader aliases > install sound-slot-0 /sbin/modprobe snd_usb_audio > #install sound-slot-1 /sbin/modprobe snd_intel8x0 > > And commented this > #options snd-usb-audio index=1 > #options snd-usb-usx2y index=-2 Initially I thought that didn't work, but then I played with the volume control in gnome-volume-control. It seemed that when I moved the slider about 2/3 over (there's a sticky gray bar) then I got sound. Maybe this is by design, but I can't understand why. --Dan ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: gnome-media 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Sep 21 16:33:12 2010 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-volume-control InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100429) ProcEnviron: SHELL=/bin/bash LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SourcePackage: gnome-media ** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- volume slide doesn't work as expected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/644801 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
