I recently set up an email client on my Android phone to access my work email and in the initial configuration steps, I was given choices on what the client should do when I deleted a message. There was a checkbox that said "Don't delete emails on server." I really appreciated having that choice up-front. I agree this should be a WishList and not a bug.
