Nautilus i7-980, 12 gig ram, fresh install 10.10, 2.6.35-22 64 bit, nautilus 2.32.0 no plugins, updated daily, ext4 partition.
It takes Nautilus 22 seconds to open the /usr/share directory with 333 entries. 46 seconds to open /usr/share/doc with 1,500 entries. 152 seconds to open /usr/bin with 1,751 entries. 28 seconds to open /usr/bin with 1,683 entries.
