Same problem for me. All was good with ubuntu 10.04 and then i upgraded to 10.10 and rhythmbox recognize mu ipod nano 1rst gen , i can put music on, but 1 - if i delete them the space is still taken 2 - when i disconect my ipod and start to play the files they're all 0.00 long. Great!
