hi Pedro, look at bug 640240, its quite the same symptoms with maverick. I'm wondering about applets config to be blamed: old settings left behind, or conflicts with other distro (Lucid/Maverick) as they share the same /home. I've removed/purged then reinstalled several times gnome-panel, gnome-session, taskbar, but no luck.
