Public bug reported:

When playing any mp3 files, the playback starts and stops, producing a 
stuttering effect. 
I do believe it also skips part of the file, much like a scratched cd would 
when played.

I have found no solution to the problem. The files are on my ext4 partition, 
the one Ubuntu is on. 
I run 10.10 Ubuntu.
