Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I am running Ubunutu 10.10 on my Dell Studio 1458. If I don't work on my
computer for a long time, the system turns off the display. If I try to
press some keys or move the mouse, the display "kind of" turns on and
shows a blinking cursor for about a few seconds after which the screen
just goes blank. I can see that the screen is power up because the
screen is not completely pitch dark but it is blank. The only thing to
do is to restart. I cant even switch to other non graphical terminal
(crtl+alt+F1,F2,F3...F7). Its just a blank active display.
