You can configure this behavior by doing the following: 1. Run gconf-editor
2. Go to >apps>gnome-power-manager>actions 3. Check the box next to event_when_closed_battery Also, on Maverick, this is the default (and it's working like it should, tested with an Asus eee 1001px and Ubuntu 10.10 NE).
