This started to happen to me yesterday, but I don't hive a high end
system: it's a Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual  CPU  E2160  @ 1.80GHz with a
normal hard disk (not SSD)

When staring gnome-settings-manager from the console to solve it, I see
this warning:
