Well, it wasn't meant to be a final permanent solution anyway. I just wanted to demontrate that the patch does fix the problem. I was hoping that these changes could make it into an updated maverick package without much delay.
I can update the package with a new version number to fix this problem, if you think it's worth it. However, I think any effort should be focused on publishing an "official" update with this patch applied.
