Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

UI needs to have a way of disabling the preview pane by default.
Currently the only way to disable the preview pane is to change the
setting on each individual folder. When using multiple email accounts
this is extremely tedious. Starting evolution with the --disable-preview
switch has no effect. Previous versions had the preview pane disabled by
default.

This is a possible security vulnerability considering the number of
malware sent via email.
