Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Running Ubuntu Maverick 10.10, it's been installed a week or so.
brasero 2.32.0-0ubuntu2

I am trying to burn a big folder of files (4Gb) to a DVD. I start new
data project, drag and drop folder, it adds it up, tells me it's about
4Gb, enables the Burn button, which I clicked. I was asked whether to
make files Windows compatible, I chose No. After a lengthy process of
copying the files across from the network to /tmp/, pretty soon it says
finalising, then "success", but the success button says "600k" when the
DVD should be ~4Gb!

The disc is visibly NOT fully burnt (you can see it's burnt /something/
though). It mounts ok, but is empty.

I experienced this in 10.04, too, so installed k3b which worked fine.
This time I chose xfburn as my alternative, and this works, too, so I
think it's definitely a brasero problem.

I'd vote for this being flagged as really serious: it gives a false
"success" and many people burn DVDs etc. as backups. They burn them and
put them away until they really need to rely on them. Should not rely on
users noticing the reported burn size differs.

Thanks,
Rich
