Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I have a lenovo thinkpad T410. The battery icon is displaying an
incorrect power level and claims that my computer is about to die. I
have checked with both lshal and the actual battery and it is not
critically low.

This appears to be a bug which was in lucid and was not fixed. # 501500
However it also reports the wrong battery level at any time.
