Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
On EEE PC 1000HA, Maverick, gnome-screensaver 2.30.0-1ubuntu1:
- laptop is connected to external monitor via VGA cable
- in power manager, 'when laptop lid is closed' => 'do nothing'
- in monitor preferences, the internal display is off, external is on
- laptop lid is closed and everything appears to work fine on the external
display
When screensaver activates (either by timeout or 'lock screen'), nothing
is displayed on the external monitor; if the laptop lid is opened, the
screensaver is displayed on the external monitor; if the lid is closed
again, the external display goes blank (but does not DPMS-sleep). The
unlock dialog is always rendered properly on the external screen; only
the screensaver is impacted.
Expected: all video output rendered on the external display; lid state ignored
when internal display is disabled.
Got: for screensaver only, the lid state is not ignored, even if the external
display is used.
