This same thing happened to me with 10.10 I solved it by opening nautilus (Alt+F2 -> type nautilus), then right clicking on a folder, went 'Open with other application' -> Selected 'File Browser', made sure the 'Remember this application for "folder" files' was checked, and then went 'Open'.
