After reading bug 778083 I come to the conclusion that it is the same kind of bug. If you think it is useful you could merge the two bug reports.
I installed the 64 bit version of Natty on another box than my laptop with a different graphics card (can't remember offhand which one) and the behaviour is the same. Therefore I suspect the bug is hardware independent.
