I was a little discouraged to follow up since the answer:
"the issue is not likely a gdm one"
left me with no choices, I am a simple user trying to collaborate, not
and advanced Linux buff at all , busy as i am in producing have little
time left to learn, i've left linux a little aside.
How ever thank you for the follow up. this problem was totally overcome
in the following linux upgrades.
