Public bug reported:
This bug is very repeatable with this procedure and has existed prior to
Maverick and Natty. Although here I am using Natty with updates current as of
today. Natilus 3.32.2.1
1. open a folder as your source
2. open a second tab and select/create a folder as your destination
3. select files from the source tab and cut
4. switch to the destination tab and paste files
5. before or just as move completes, switch back to the source tab
This when the move completes, nautilus will crash every time. Very
consistent. The move completes properly and no data loss. Seems more
related to UI updating. I confirmed this more or less by simply waiting
for the move to complete before switching tabs. I have never seen a
crash when I wait.
If I had to guess, I'd say this is the result of improper serialisation
of nautilus and user initiated events. Or fundamentally event handling
in general. Either in Nautilus or upstream libraries.
Another example is while creating a new folder. If while you are typing the
name or pausing in typing, and there is a need to update the file list,
Nautilus will abort user action, create a new Untitled Folder, so it can update
the list. Rather than deferring the update until the user action has completed.
Other times Nautilus seems to get in it's own way and trigger event timeouts.
Such as for mouse hover timeout to trigger expanding directory view.
