@Pedro: i would definately do so, but Im using Ubuntu 11.04. It says apport is
installed.
And this is at I have of sudo find / -name apport

/var/lib/update-rc.d/apport
/etc/logrotate.d/apport
/etc/default/apport
/etc/cron.daily/apport
/etc/apport
/etc/apport/blacklist.d/apport
/etc/init.d/apport
/usr/share/pyshared-data/apport
/usr/share/apport
/usr/share/apport/apport
/usr/share/pyshared/apport
/usr/share/doc/apport
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/apport
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/apport

so apparently, there is no /etc/default/apport

there is a /etc/apport directory which has these files:

blacklist.d crashdb.conf crashdb.conf.d

Could you pls help me some more with it?
