Public bug reported:

When lightdm starts during boot the screen brightness is dimmed to its
lowest value. Once logging onto the system and going into to the System
Settings->Screen dialog and then setting the correct brightness, the
value is not saved therefore at the next boot you have to do the whole
process again.
