Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can confirm this behavior on Natty, however, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Oneiric Ocelot, the media player version (totem 3.0.1-0ubuntu2) used in Oneiric does not crash when searching for rumour has it, but displays the search results as expected.
