The problem was caused by the Nvidia beta drivers. Before upgrading to 10.10, I had the stable Nvidia drivers installed. When I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10, the beta drivers got automatically installed without either asking or warning.
This is still a bug, as the upgrade shouldn't switch to beta drivers without asking, and a distribution should never install such unusable unstable untested beta crap. Only drivers that have been thoroughly tested should be installed by default, anything else should only be installed if the user choses so, especially if it is so tremendously unstable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/797878 Title: random pieces of graphics displayed all around, display is a mess To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/apt/+bug/797878/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
