It is still a minor nuisance (bug) in 10.4 that has not been fixed yet. I've
been keeping the desktop icons aligned until now. To tell you the truth
there is no need to reboot and if I log out of session and log back in the
desktop settings remain intact. So far I have not applied suggested
workarounds yet, and I intend to keep it this way until there is an official
fix or I have time to fix it. Let me know if you come up with a fix.
