Public bug reported: In older versions of Ubuntu (pre-11.10), it was possible to pass menu key combinations to the application in the terminal by hiding the menu bar. With the new Unity appmenu "notifier", that no longer works -- as documented http://shebang.brandonmintern.com/oneiric-upgrade-breaks- readline-alt-b-and-alt, achieving that effect now requires a different option.
To avoid surprising and annoying users, when upgrading from an earlier version of gnome-terminal, the "Enable menu access keys" option should default to the same value as "Show Menubar".
