Joshua O'Leary's workaround (comment 13) of changing AutoMount to false in /usr/share/gvfs/mounts/network.mount worked for me on the original install and update of 11.10, but since upadting to version 3.0.0-15 it no longer works. Thunar is now at version 1.2.3.
