Public bug reported:

After pressing Tab or Backspace in Gnome Terminal, entire X screen (not
terminal alone) freezes for 5 seconds or sometimes longer. Can be
switched to console and back. Bash auto-completion and line editing
works well on console. I'm using current Ubuntu x86-64 and Nvidia
280.13.
