The entire Google live search method in the Deskbar is now defunct; as
Google discontinued the API key signups. The link you posted was for a
Google Base search service; which does not include Google Web search
results. Google Base is a search service for selling and listing
products.
The SOAP API Google provided for the deskbar applet was replaced with a
new AJAX API, which is incompatible with the applet. Essentially, the
functionality in the deskbar may never come back.
