Even I am also facing this problem. When I click switch user, it goes to a very distorted screen.
But in background, session is running. I find that Ubuntu is actually at a screen to enter password. so if I enter right password, it will accept and go inside. Then things work normally. On the main screen, everything is garbage though. so kindly let us know what can be possible solution.
