Public bug reported:

The drop-down status menu in Empathy (online, away, etc.) is currently
being displayed with grey text on a slightly darker grey background,
making it impossible to read. If you mouse-over a particular status the
text changes to white and it becomes readable, but the menu as a whole
requires some very strenuous squinting at the moment.
