I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with LightDM and Unity with just one user. Since
some days my login time (LightDM -> Unity) ist very slow, takes 30
seconds or so. This was not happening with new users I created for
testing.
After a bit trial and error I found out that the process gsettings-data-
convert which converts old GConf data to GSettings is called every login
and takes too much time to exit. I removed /etc/xdg/autostart/gsettings-
data-convert.desktop to disable autorun and from now I had a very fast
login again.
So I called gsettings-data-convert manually and it printed the some
errors which I included in the attached file.
