Public bug reported:

When closing the lid of a hp g-61 laptop and having it auto-suspend on close.
Upon opening the laptop, there are no visuals. The mouse is rendered and it
changes to a beam or a hand depending on where it is on the screen. This only
happens when the lid is closed for a while, going to get a coffee is fine but
leaving it over night isn't.
Just to note, I'm running the latest release (12.04) 64-bit. I tried changing
the settings too, I changed them so that it doesn't suspend when closed and
that seemed to solve the problem for now and it just asks for the password upon
opening the lid again.
Sorry if I can't be of any more help.
