Public bug reported:

ubuntu 12.04 - gnome classic - with 3d effects

If you have set a transparent background on the top panel. Some
operations lose the transparency.

The only one I can reproduce is if I change the Gnome theme from Ambience to
something else say Radiance
then the transparency is lost, and is not renewed if I go back to Ambience.

This may or may not be a bug.

What is a bug is that if I then window+alt+properties in the panel and go to
the background tab,
the style slider for transparent <-> opaque is still set at the half way
position, even tho the panel is solid black.
