Just in case this could help when I try to manually get information on
the calibration device using colormgr I get the following error:

txelu@txelu-acer:~$ sudo colormgr get-sensors
Object Path: /org/freedesktop/ColorManager/sensors/i1_pro

(colormgr:3025): Cd-WARNING **: Failed to lock sensor: Failed to Lock:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.ColorManager.Failed: cannot lock non-native
driver

So I can see the system correctly identifies my calibration device as a
i1_pro but it has no access to it...
