I have not tried to use sound for a while, so this may relate to the updates noted by David Robert Lewis ... I am back where I was in my post here of 2011-05-04 (#10):
usb headset / mike appears in "hardware", but not in input or output. Sound preferences also crashes if you attempt to test the speakers. I tried the killall pulseaudio of #19 and this made the headset appear in the outputs (but no mike on the inputs). The "test speakers" function no longer causes a crash - but there is no sound, so it is not much of an improvement! There certainly seems to be a regression issue here on the updates, I had be using this headset regularly for speech recognition until about 3 months ago -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775345 Title: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/775345/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
