Public bug reported:

I use a quantal daily live cd for amd64 from todays date.

The live system is starting properly, but on system settings -> brightness and 
look -> brighness bar
any adjustments have no effect on the monitor brightness.

So, the connection between scrolling bar and brightness value seems to
be broken.
