Thank you, Kuroshima, for reporting this.  I have struggled with this
bug on Ubuntu 10.10 and 12.04.  I didn't report it myself because my
problematic PDFs are copyrighted.  However, I am attaching a screenshot
of Evince's screen display (left) and Evince's print preview (right).

This sounds like a very old Ghostscript bug
(http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691760) but I ran the test
documented there and it worked fine, so I think it's unrelated.

My work-around was to print via Xpdf, which was awkward but worked.
However, now Xpdf is completely broken (bug #943195) and I am without a
way to print my maps at all.
