Actually
1. select text from somewhere else and paste to Gedit works,
2. select text from Gedit and paste to somewhere else works,
4. select text from Gedit and paste it into another Gedit buffer does work,
3. but select text from Gedit and paste it into the same Gedit buffer does not
work.
