** Description changed: rhythmbox 2.98-0ubuntu3, libgpod4 0.8.2-7ubuntu1, Ubuntu R 1. Import an MP3 file into Rhythmbox, if there is not at least one already. 2. Connect a Mac-formatted iPod. 3. Drag an MP3 file, from the Rhythmbox library, onto the iPod icon in the sidebar. What happens: Rhythmbox crashes. rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in gst_encoding_target_get_profiles() What should happen: * the MP3 file is copied onto the iPod, OR * you are prompted to reformat the iPod (in Windows format), then the previous contents of the iPod are restored, then the MP3 file is copied onto the iPod, OR * (at the very least) an error message is displayed explaining that Rhythmbox can't change the contents of the iPod because it is Mac-formatted. + + Though it wasn't mentioned in his column, this inability to copy songs + to an iPod was one of the issues Walt Mossberg encountered when + reviewing Ubuntu for the New York Times in September 2007.
