It is marked as fixed here and at Gnome Bugzilla; however, the fix is in Gedit 3.7. I can't get that version from software updates. Seriously Ubuntu! If there is a fix, send it to all supported distributions. I don't care what your release cycle is.
If it is fixed, then activate the update in all supported distributions!
