@Gulliver: that bug report is about a gvfs assert in g_error_free(), it's not about abiword not working. It's worth trying the fix for this bug but whoever said you that was the same issue as your might have misleaded you. Can you describe what you do exactly with abiword to trigger the issue? Is that specific to XFCE sessions?
