Public bug reported: File sharing between Ubuntu and Windows PCs is a bit of a struggle. One cannot get it up and running without searching online for a solution. Also there is always a bit of commandline involved in the process.
It would be better, if the required GUI and the dependencies are installed by default for Ubuntu . Even if the dependencies are not involved, during setup of file share, the system should prompt for the required dependencies which can be installed from the Ubuntu Software Center. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: gnome-user-share (Ubuntu) => samba (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-user-share in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1281009 Title: add out of the box file sharing support (samba) for Ubuntu with GUI To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1281009/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
