Frankly I have totally forgot about this particular bug. As far as I can tell it was handled in the next versions and in the next versions of Ubuntu. Not using that much Thunderbird these days, as I am using multiple devices including Tablets and Phones and it seemed easier to use webmail on the laptop with those, no need to have local hard drive space and so on. I think we can safely assume that the bug is fixed.
