EOG 3.10.2 works fine on a computer with sufficient ram. However, if you run this program on an older computer, eg. with only 512 MB of ram, displaying "large" images (eg. 4000 * 6000, a common size of a modern camera), will cause the computer to hang. The same applies to gThumb. In order to view such images, one can use Shotwell. I reverted to a more lightweight desktop, eg. Xfce, and Ristretto is displaying "large" images without any issues.
