Same here, on Ubuntu 14.04, Acer Notebook. I have default It keyboard, sometimes and randomly switches in Us, but the indicator shows still It a workaround is to click again on Italian. I tried solution proposed in comment #69 as I were missing some installation too, let's see if it fixes...
