I did some additional testing. I unchecked the "Keep clock synchronized with Internet servers:" checkbox and then removed ntp, ntp-server, and ntp-simple with Synaptic.
I then went into the "Adjust Date & Time" windows and reselected the "Keep clock synchronized with Internet servers:". I was prompted to install the ntp components, which I approved. After installation, I clicked on the "Select Servers" button and then scrolled through the list of unchecked servers to the bottom. The attached screenshot reveals what I saw. I added us.pool.ntp.org to the list, which showed up already checked at the bottom. I attempted to uncheck it, and received a crash. After restarting the "Adjust Date & Time" window and opening the "Time servers" window, only the two servers (ntp.ubuntu.com and 127.127.1.0) were checked. Adding us.pool.ntp.org, closing the "Time servers" window and the "Adjust Date & Time" window, then reopening them reveals that the added server is not saved. ** Attachment added: "Select Servers Window Screenshot" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6488798/Screenshot-Time%20servers.png -- [time-admin] adding ntp server ip from clock applet fails https://launchpad.net/bugs/84194 -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
