Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-keyring
If a program that use gnome-keyring is launhed at the start of your session (ie network-manager), you will be prompted for your password just after your login ! This is really bad. But it's even worst because the gnome-keyring password is different than the login password ! So things become way too complex for a normal user and just boring for the average geek. A solution exist : change gnome-keyring so it uses PAM. This is described here : http://johnny.chadda.se/2007/02/21/unlock-the-gnome-keyring-upon-login/ I think that it should be the default for Feisty, given that network- manager will be installed by default. Also, it might automatically solve this bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring-manager/+bug/35959 ** Affects: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Gnome-keyring should use PAM https://launchpad.net/bugs/87070 -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
