The following command fails under Unity 7:
$ xdg-open appstream:org.gnome.gedit.desktop
gvfs-open: appstream:org.gnome.gedit.desktop: error opening location:
The specified location is not supported
The URI works if you uninstall ubuntu-software.
Perhaps gvfs doesn't know how to handle .desktops in
/usr/share/ubuntu/applications/ ?
